Health warnings as ‘intense’ heatwave to hit NSW until Australia Day
Blistering heat from inland Australia will sweep towards the NSW coast in the coming days, prompting health authorities to warn the public to take “necessary precautions” to avoid heat-related illnesses.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast severe heatwave conditions to arrive by Friday over most of NSW and continue until Tuesday when a weak cold front is expected to move through. For the state’s south-east, the outlook is for an “extreme heatwave” for Saturday through to Monday.
